Table of Contents

Selection between JEE and NEET is an important decision for all the students aiming to pursue engineering or medicine in their respective careers.

JEE opens the doors for aspiring engineers to get into the most prominent institutes for engineers, such as the IITs, NITs, and many other engineering colleges.

NEET is an entrance to any medical aspirant who is aiming to seek admission into various medical colleges for pursuing MBBS, BDS, and any other allied medical courses.

National-level entrance examinations, JEE is conducted by the National Testing Agency. It can be segregated into two segments: JEE Main  and JEE Advanced .

JEE Main is the one through which admission to NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions is made.

In JEE 2025 , one has to prepare with utter rigor in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

This paper is always challenging and rigorous since a student competes with the students from all over the country for limited seats in the famous engineering institutes.

 About NEET 2025

NEET is also a national level medical entrance examination, through which the NTA conducts the exam for students aspiring to pursue various medical courses, like MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH, which is essentially a combination of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.

The NEET is the only entrance test that every medical college in India accepts and, hence, puts a student under test on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology .

NEET 2025  will just be a repetition of previous trends and practices wherein students will be examined based on their understanding of basic medical science particularly biology and its application in medical practice.

Success Rate of NEET vs JEE

The success rate for JEE and NEET may differ greatly as both the exams are different in their format, and even the number of applicants competing for those few available seats will be different.

JEE Success Rate : JEE, especially JEE Advanced , is notoriously difficult. Every year, over a million students appear for JEE Main , but only about 10,000-12,000 secure seats in the IITs through JEE Advanced . This makes the overall success rate of JEE particularly low, about 1-2%.

NEET Success Rate : NEET, however has a relatively better success rate, though competition is as tough. Approximately 15 lakh students appear each year for NEET, while about 7-8 lakh make it to medical admissions, with approximately 80,000 seats in government and private colleges.

This puts the success rate at NEET somewhere between 10-12% compared to JEE.

NEET vs JEE: Which is Better?

No one can claim NEET is better than JEE and vice versa; it just mainly depends upon the interest, skills, and career one wishes to opt for.

On the other hand, if physics, mathematics, and a knack for problem-solving prevail, JEE may be more favorable.

Difficulty Level : Both exams are tough, but in different ways. On one hand, JEE demands more than just basic understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; the questions will be much more demanding on their concepts.

NEET, on the other hand, requires one to have a deep knowledge in Biology combined with a good understanding of Physics and Chemistry, though questions here seem more straightforward than those in JEE Advanced.

Career Prospects : NEET leads to a career in medicine, which opens doors for becoming a doctor, surgeon, or other jobs related to health. Conversely, the career prospect of JEE leads to engineering and technology, specializing in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.

 NEET vs JEE Eligibility

Even though both these exams cater to different career requirements, their eligibility criteria are somewhat similar.

JEE Eligibility :

In order to sit for these exams, a student must have completed his 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Admission to NITs, IITs, and other institutions requires a minimum of 75% aggregate in Class 12 for general category students or to be within the top 20 percentile of their respective board.

There is no age limit to appear in JEE Main. Students intending to appear for JEE Advanced must be less than 25 years of age.

-NEET Eligibility:

The students shall pass the Class 12 exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology from a recognized board.

A minimum of 50% in Class 12 is a must for the general category whereas a minimum of 40% in class 12 has to be scored by SC/ST/OBC students.

At least 17 years old as on 31 December of the admission year, and also 25 years being the maximum limit for some relaxation in the case of reserved categories as well.

Important Dates and Registration for JEE and NEET 2025

 JEE 2025:

Start date for JEE Main Registration is expected to be in December 2024.

The first session of the exam will most probably be in January 2025, and the second session will be in April 2025.

JEE Advanced 2025: It will most probably be held in June 2025.

 Conclusion

The decision to opt between JEE and NEET will decide your future career. The difference between the two is that they are prestigious and challenging.

And if you are basically searching for a perfect exam to serve your higher education according to your interest, then you have to consider the following:

1.your academic interest; secondly, your aspirations in terms of your career;

2.our strength. If your interest lies in the field of technology and problem-solving then, JEE, coupled with a career in engineering, may suit your needs.
